Two thesis defenses on scalar inference coming up

Two theses (arguably the first in "Experimental Pragmatics" as construed here) are about to be defended. Napoleon Katsos who worked with Richard Breheny in Cambridge will have his viva in Cambridge on the 21st of November at 1pm at the "RECALL". His thesis title is "Experimental investigations on the effects of structure and context on the generataion of scalar implicatures." One month later, Nausicaa Pouscoulous who worked in both Paris and Lyon (with Dan Sperber and Ira Noveck, respectively), will be defending her thesis, which is also on scalars, in Paris (December 21st). Her exact title is forthcoming.

2 pieces of information from Napoleon Katsos

1) There was recently a conference on presuppositions in Ohio and it maintains a resource page with many papers relevant to Experimental Pragmatics:

2) It might also be good idea to a link to the LinguistList reviews of the hardbound and softbound edition of Experimental Pragmatics (one by Rick Nouwen and another that I did myself) which are available on the web:

all the best for now,
